About This Blog
The Parents’ Choice blog is a place to read more, play more and learn more about children’s media and toys, and the people and policies that shape them.
We’ll host a variety of news stories, commentary and interviews. And if we stir up a hornet’s nest or two along the way, so be it. But if we do, it will be with thoughtful consideration, civility, and genuine concern for the subject matter at hand.
At Parents’ Choice, we work all year long to help parents navigate the landscape of children’s media and toys.
Why? Because preparing youngsters to be good students means more than tutoring them to ace their tests. It means helping them learn to think critically and creatively. Furnishing our children with the tools to be civic-minded global citizens will take more than teaching the benefits of recycling. And fortifying 21st century children to be strong, fair and innovative leaders will take more than developing a broad fan base on Facebook.
Above all, learning is fun – and we want kids to know it. If we can help parents show their children how much fun it is to learn something new – be it a formula, a recipe, a language or that major league baseball players demonstrate physics principles in every game, we’ll consider our efforts successful.
We hope this blog, and our Twitter page too, will energize our readers to help the children in their lives read more, play more, and learn more.
About Parents’ Choice Foundation:
Parents’ Choice Foundation is the nation’s oldest and most respected nonprofit guide to quality children’s media and toys. An independent testing and information organization since 1978, Parents’ Choice is dedicated to providing trusted recommendations for books, toys, music, video games, digital media and more.
We review, evaluate and recommend products that help kids grow – imaginatively, physically, morally and mentally – fairly priced products that are fun, safe and socially sound. The Parents’ Choice website, a public service resource, serves as a clearinghouse for children’s media and toys. For more than 30 years, parents, grandparents, educators, librarians and healthcare professionals have relied on Parents’ Choice for suggestions to help foster an environment for kids to read more, play more and learn more.
Parents’ Choice Award Seals:
The Parents’ Choice Awards program honors the best material for children: books, toys, music and storytelling, magazines, software, video games, television and websites. Parents’ Choice Foundation’s panels of educators, scientists, performing artists, librarians, parents and, yes, kids themselves, identify the very best products for children from infants to young adults, and of varied skill and interest levels. The Parents’ Choice Award seals are a distinguishing mark of quality and achievement.
