Traditional Storyteller – The Three Little Pigs is an excellent app for sharing and teaching the art of storytelling. In this edition, spirited narrator Cat Weatherill shares a ten-minute long version of The Three Little Pigs story. She draws in young ones early on by engaging them in the hand gestures and vocal sounds she uses to add color to the story. She also pauses periodically to ask her listeners questions, such as “Do you like food?”, a question that naturally relates to a story about hungry pigs.
After listening to the story, guide your child toward the map game. The goal is to place images representing events in the story in the correct sequence. When this is done, the narrator will read a truncated version of the story. Children can also record their own version of the story, either by listening and repeating story tidbits or recording a complete new version guided by images from the story.
